"I Was Dreaming of Spirit Animals" by Cappy Thompson at Sea-Tac Airport

Cappy Thompson (born January 22, 1952) is an American artist who works in the medium of glass. The basis of her reverse glass painting technique is Grisaille, which has been used on stained glass since the Middle Ages. Drawing from inspirations of medieval symbolism from around the globe, she creates "mytho-poetic narratives on glass."[1]

She has been an artist in residence at Pilchuck Glass School and is a recipient of the school's Libensky award. Her best-known public works are Dreaming of Spirit Animals at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport[2][3] and Gathering the Light in the lobby of the Museum of Glass in Tacoma.[4] She lives and works in Seattle, Washington and has a residence in Olympia. She graduated in 1976 from The Evergreen State College, where she studied painting and print-making.[5] Her work can also be seen in the Daniel J. Evans library of her alma mater.[6]
