Justin Drew Bieber was born to 18-year-old Pattie Mallette and 19-year-old Jeremy Bieber in London, Ontario, Canada. His parents never married and split up when he was a toddler.

At the age of 13, Justin Bieber was discovered by American record executive Scooter Braun after Braun accidentally clicked on one of Bieber's YouTube videos covering Ne-Yo's 'So Sick.' Braun was impressed and contacted Bieber's mother, leading to Bieber recording demo tapes in Atlanta, Georgia, and eventually signing with Raymond Braun Media Group (RBMG) and Island Records.
