Early career
Kinza Hashmi entered the Pakistani entertainment industry in her late teens, initially working as a model and radio jockey before transitioning to acting. She made her on-screen debut in television commercials, marking her first appearance in the media.[14][2] Her acting career formally began in 2014 with the leading role of Nayab, a carefree young woman navigating family dynamics, in the A-Plus drama serial Adhura Milan, directed by Zulfiqar Ali and written by Noorul Huda Shah and Sheeraz Kazi. The series, which aired on Fridays, explored themes of incomplete unions and personal aspirations, providing Hashmi with her initial platform in Urdu television. Following this, she appeared in her first telefilm, Hona Tha Pyaar, on Geo TV in 2015, further establishing her presence in the industry.[2][15][6] In the subsequent years, Hashmi took on supporting roles in several dramas, including Sila Aur Jannat on Geo TV, and Moray Saiyaan on ARY Digital in 2016, where she portrayed characters that highlighted her versatility in family-oriented narratives. These early projects allowed her to build experience amid the competitive Pakistani TV landscape. By 2018, her role as the bold and self-centered Rushna in Ishq Tamasha on Hum TV began to garner attention, signaling her emergence as a promising talent, though she emphasized selecting roles that challenged stereotypes rather than opting for conventional ones.[6][16][15]Television career
Kinza Hashmi entered the Pakistani television industry in 2014 with her acting debut in the drama serial Adhura Milan, where she portrayed the lead character of Nayab on A-Plus TV.[2][17] The series, directed by Zulfiqar Ali, marked her transition from television commercials to scripted roles, showcasing her early potential in lead parts.[18] Hashmi rose to prominence in 2018 with her breakthrough performance as Rushna, a manipulative antagonist, in the Hum TV romantic drama Ishq Tamasha. Her nuanced depiction of a grey-shaded character in this love triangle narrative earned critical acclaim and led to nominations for Best Actress in a Negative Role and Best Supporting Actress at the Hum Awards.[2][19] The role established her versatility, allowing her to explore complex, morally ambiguous figures beyond conventional leads. Throughout the late 2010s and early 2020s, Hashmi expanded her repertoire with diverse roles in popular serials. She played Banki in the historical drama Mor Mahal (2016) on Geo TV, a period piece set in the Mughal era, and took on the titular role of Dil Awaiz in the 2022 Hum TV series of the same name, which highlighted themes of emotional resilience and received widespread viewer appreciation. Other notable appearances include Maham in Mohlat (2021), a negative role that further demonstrated her range in intense family sagas, and Wafa in Hum Dono (2024) on Hum TV, a contemporary story exploring relationships and personal growth.[20] By 2025, Hashmi had appeared in over 30 television dramas across channels like Hum TV, Geo TV, and ARY Digital, often choosing projects with social relevance such as cyberbullying in Mere Ban Jao (2023).[2] Her consistent selection of challenging characters has solidified her status as a sought-after actress in Urdu-language television, with recent works like Kaisi Hai Ye Ruswai (2024), Raula Basement Da (2025), Shirin Farhad (2025, as Shirin), and the upcoming Leader continuing to showcase her evolving screen presence.[21]Film career
Kinza Hashmi transitioned to films following her success in Pakistani television, making her feature film debut in the 2024 Punjabi-language romantic comedy Hall Ki Ae?. Directed by Amritpreet Singh, the Indo-Pak co-production stars Hashmi opposite Indian singer-actor Jassie Gill, with supporting roles by Karamjit Anmol, Hobby Dhaliwal, and Nisha Bano. The story revolves around a tale of love, laughter, and cultural fusion set in vibrant Punjab, highlighting cross-border collaboration in South Asian cinema. Released worldwide on November 15, 2024, the film marked Hashmi's entry into theatrical releases, earning praise for her poised performance in a lead role that blended humor and romance.[22][23][24] In 2024, Hashmi also appeared in the short thriller Kattar Karachi, directed by Abdul Wali Baloch, featuring her alongside Talha Anjum and Imran Ashraf in a crime narrative set in urban Karachi. Released on December 20, 2024, the film delves into intense action and local undercurrents, receiving attention for its gritty storytelling.[25] Prior to her big-screen venture, Hashmi gained experience through telefilms, which are popular short-format films in Pakistan often aired on television or digital platforms. In 2018, she starred in the comedy telefilm Rok Sako To Rok Lo, directed by Kashif Saleem, where she played a supporting role alongside Shehzad Sheikh, Javed Sheikh, and Hina Dilpazir, portraying family dynamics with lighthearted humor. Her telefilm work continued with Ruposh in 2022, a romantic drama directed by Ali Faizan, in which she portrayed Zunaira Ashfaq opposite Haroon Kadwani, exploring themes of passion and societal expectations in a 2-hour-22-minute format. These projects showcased her range in narrative-driven stories beyond episodic television.[26][27] She is slated to appear in the upcoming romantic comedy Laddu (2025), directed by Abu Aleeha and co-starring Farhan Saeed, with a script by Ali Moeen and Abu Aleeha focusing on youthful romance, family chaos, and Karachi's bustling life.
