Ángela Ruiz Robles, the Spanish teacher, writer, pioneer, and inventor of the mechanical precursor to the electronic book, was born in Villamanín, León, Spain. She later became known for her invention of the Mechanical Encyclopedia, an early concept for an e-reader.
