Bonnie Zacherle began working at Kenner Products, a major toy manufacturer. The exact date she started working there is unknown, but it was likely in the early 1980s.

While working at Kenner, Zacherle conceived the idea for a toy line centered around colorful, miniature ponies. Her original creation was called 'My Pretty Pony,' a larger, more realistic pony figure.

Based on the initial 'My Pretty Pony' concept, Kenner launched the 'My Little Pony' toy line in 1983. This line featured smaller, more stylized ponies with unique colors, symbols (Cutie Marks), and personalities.

Bonnie D continued working on the My Little Pony line, although her exact level of involvement diminished once the line became massively successful. Her initial design and concepts served as the cornerstone for the brand's subsequent development.
