Polleen Wheatland ("Polly") Peabody, the daughter of Caresse Crosby (then Polly Peabody) and Richard Peabody, was born. Her husband was already in Officers Training Camp at Plattsburgh, New York, where he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Artillery at the time.
