David Charles Hahn died at the age of 39 in Shelby Charter Township, Michigan. His death was ruled an accidental result of intoxication from the combined effects of alcohol, fentanyl, and diphenhydramine. This marks the end of his life.

Episode 6 of season 6 of Mysteries at the Museum features a segment about Hahn's nuclear experiment entitled "Radioactive Boy Scout" which originally aired October 24, 2014. The episode increased popularity of the case.
