Parton set up The Dollywood Foundation to help children in Sevier County achieve greater academic success and later expanded its scope to include various other charitable projects.

Parton helped raise over $9 million for survivors of the Great Smoky Mountain Wildfires through her My People Fund and established a scholarship for affected high school students.

Parton continues to support various charitable initiatives, including education and poverty relief programs in East Tennessee.
