Teller received the prestigious Enrico Fermi Award from the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission for his contributions to nuclear physics and nuclear energy.

He was awarded the Harvey Prize by the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology for his significant achievements in science and technology.

Teller received the Sylvanus Thayer Award from the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Shortly before his death, Teller was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush for his contributions to national defense and science. This was a controversial award given his past.
