The Battle of Mărășești was a significant military engagement during World War I. Elisa Leonida Zamfirescu's hospital received the wounded from this battle. The battle was a victory by Romania over 28 days during which there were over 12,000 Romanian and over 10,000 of the invaders who were wounded. Although the text only mentions 1917 as the year, the Battle of Mărășești began in the summer of 1917, more specifically, on August 6th, 1917.
