Accession to the Throne
February 6, 1952
Upon the death of her father, King George VI, Elizabeth automatically succeeded to the throne at the age of 25 while she and Prince Philip were on a tour in Kenya.
Coronation
June 2, 1953
Elizabeth's coronation was held at Westminster Abbey, marking the first time a coronation ceremony was televised, with the exception of the anointing and communion.
