Elton John was born Reginald Kenneth Dwight in Pinner, Middlesex, England.

John began playing piano at an early age and won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music at 11.

John attended Pinner Wood Junior School, Reddiford School, and Pinner County Grammar School until he left at 17 to pursue a career in music.
