Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris, France, to English lawyers Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson.

At the age of five, Emma Watson moved to England with her mother and brother after her parents divorced. She spent weekends at her father's house in London.

Watson attended the Dragon School in Oxfordshire and trained in acting at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts, where she studied singing, dancing, and acting.

Emma Watson auditioned eight times for the role of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film series. She was cast alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint.

Watson starred as Hermione Granger in all eight films of the Harry Potter series, including Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001), Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010), and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011).

Watson starred in the film Ballet Shoes, marking her first major role outside the Harry Potter series.

Watson split her time between working on films and continuing her education, graduating from Brown University with a bachelor's degree in English literature. She also starred in films like My Week with Marilyn (2011), The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012), and The Bling Ring (2013).

Watson was honored by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts as British Artist of the Year.

Watson starred as Belle in the live-action Disney fantasy film Beauty and the Beast, one of the biggest movies of all time in the U.S.

Watson played the role of Meg March in Greta Gerwig's coming-of-age drama Little Women.
