Accession to the Throne

Following the death of his grandfather, George II, George III ascended to the throne at the age of 22.
Coronation

George III was crowned at Westminster Abbey, beginning his reign that would last nearly 60 years.
Repeal of the Stamp Act
1766
George III repealed the unpopular Stamp Act, though he maintained the Tea Act, which later contributed to the Boston Tea Party.
Regency Act
1811
Due to George III's mental incapacity, the Regency Act established his son, the future George IV, as Prince Regent.
