James Gosling

Gosling joined Sun Microsystems. His early work involved contributing to the development of the NeWS windowing system, a predecessor to modern GUI technologies. He also worked on various compiler and software development tools.

As the founder and lead designer of Java, Gosling guided the development of the language and its related technologies for nearly two decades. He was a key figure in shaping Java's architecture, ensuring its portability, security, and performance. He held the title of VP and Fellow at Sun.

Following Oracle's acquisition of Sun Microsystems, Gosling left the company. His departure was attributed to disagreements with Oracle's management and strategic direction for Java. He publicly expressed concerns about Oracle's handling of the language and its community.
