Following graduation, Matthews and Silverman officially founded Uncharted Play (later rebranded as Uncharted Power) to further develop and commercialize the sOccket and other kinetic energy solutions. They aimed to create innovative products that address social challenges.

In the initial years, Uncharted Play focused on refining the sOccket design and exploring its potential applications. The company gained recognition through various awards, competitions, and media coverage, including recognition by President Bill Clinton at a Clinton Global Initiative event. Matthews also experienced challenges securing funding, facing bias as a young, Black female founder.

Uncharted Play began to expand its product line beyond sOccket, exploring other applications of kinetic energy harvesting, including playground equipment that generated electricity. They started focusing on infrastructure solutions as well.

Matthews expanded her business to Nigeria where she has opened a factory.

Uncharted Play underwent a strategic shift, focusing on developing infrastructure solutions using kinetic energy to power cities. This led to a rebranding to Uncharted Power, reflecting the company's expanded vision and technological capabilities. They focused on developing underground infrastructure solutions for smart cities.

Uncharted Power continues to innovate in the field of kinetic energy harvesting, developing and deploying solutions for various applications, including smart cities, infrastructure, and disaster relief. The company has garnered significant investment and recognition for its contributions to sustainable energy.
