Marjorie Joyner died of heart failure at her home in the Bronzeville
neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, at the age of 98. Her death marked the end of
a life dedicated to entrepreneurship, innovation in the hair care industry, and
activism.

Marjorie Joyner, along with Mary McLeod Bethune and U.S. congressman William
Dawson, founded the sorority and fraternity Alpha Chi Pi Omega dedicated to the
advancement and promotion of the beauty industry.
