Mark Hughes had a distinguished professional playing career, playing for several top clubs and winning numerous titles.
First Spell at Manchester United
1980-1986
Hughes signed professional terms with Manchester United and made his debut against Oxford in 1983.
Barcelona and Bayern Munich
1986-1988
Hughes joined Barcelona in a £2.3 million deal but was loaned out to Bayern Munich due to failing to settle.
Second Spell at Manchester United
1988-1995
Hughes returned to Manchester United and was part of the team that won the inaugural Premiership title and the FA Cup double in 1993-94.
Chelsea
1995-1998
Hughes signed for Chelsea and won his fourth FA Cup winner's medal in 1997.
Southampton
1998-2000
Hughes moved to Southampton before the start of the 1998-99 season.
Everton
2000
Hughes joined Everton on a 14-month deal but scored only one goal in 15 appearances.

Hughes joined Blackburn Rovers on a free transfer and helped them secure promotion to the Premiership.
