Fox was raised 'very strictly Pentecostal' but later attended Catholic school for twelve years. Her parents divorced when she was young, and she was raised by her mother and stepfather.

Fox was bullied and picked on in middle school, often eating lunch in the bathroom to avoid being 'pelted with ketchup packets'.

Fox described herself as a 'total outcast' in high school, with few friends and a preference for male company.
