Memphis made his official debut for PSV Eindhoven in 2011 and quickly established himself as a key player, helping the team win the Eredivisie title in the 2014-15 season and becoming the league's top scorer with 22 goals.

In 2015, Memphis joined Manchester United for a transfer fee of €34 million but struggled to adapt to the Premier League, making 53 appearances and scoring 7 goals over two seasons.

Memphis was sold to Lyon in January 2017 for a fee of €16 million. He helped the team reach the UEFA Champions League semi-finals in the 2019-20 season and was the top scorer for Lyon with 20 goals in all competitions in the 2020-21 season.

Memphis joined Barcelona in 2021 on a free transfer and played 52 matches, scoring 20 goals.

In January 2023, Memphis joined Atlético Madrid for a nominal €4m fee but endured an injury-plagued second half of the season.

Memphis currently plays for Campeonato Brasileiro Série A club Corinthians.
