Michel François Platini was born in Jœuf, in the Lorraine region of eastern France, to Aldo and Anna Platini, both of Italian ancestry.

Platini started his professional football career at AS Nancy, where his father was a director.

Platini moved to Juventus in Italy, where he won several personal and team honors.
