Solskjær scored the winning last-minute goal against Bayern Munich in the 1999 UEFA Champions League final, securing the treble for Manchester United.

Solskjær sustained a serious knee injury in 2003, which permanently plagued his playing career.

Failing to recover from his injury, Solskjær announced his retirement from football in 2007.
