Alecia Beth Moore is born in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, to Judith Moore (née Kugel), a nurse, and James Moore Jr., a Vietnam War veteran. Her father was Catholic, and her mother is Jewish. Pink has Irish, German, and Lithuanian ancestry.

Pink grows up listening to a variety of music, including Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Billy Joel, and Madonna. These artists significantly influence her musical style and performance persona.

Pink begins singing and writing songs as a teenager, using music as an outlet for self-expression and exploring different musical styles.

At age 16, Pink joins the all-female R&B group Choice. The group signs with LaFace Records.

Choice records an album, but it is ultimately shelved, and the group disbands. This experience is a pivotal moment for Pink, pushing her towards a solo career.
