Ray Liotta was born in Newark, New Jersey, and was adopted by Alfred and Mary Liotta when he was just a few months old.

Liotta graduated from Union High School, where he was a talented athlete, playing both basketball and soccer.

Liotta graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama, where he performed in various plays and musicals.
