Vinícius Júnior began his football career at Flamengo when his father took him to the local branch at the age of 6.

Vinícius attended futsal classes at Flamengo's school in São Gonçalo and later decided to focus on football.

Vinícius had a trial for the Flamengo youth team and accepted an invitation to play for their football team.
