Agona is one of the fastest growing towns in the Western Region according to studies.[citation needed]

The only senior high school in Agona is Baidoo Bonsoe Senior High Technical School. The school has a technical department that makes learning practical. Recently, a new girls' dormitory has been built to reduce the number of students in a dormitory. In 2021, the school emerged first among the schools in Western Region in WASSCE under the leadership of Samuel Seth Sam, the then Headmaster.

Every Wednesday is a market in Agona Nkwanta The people of Agona Nkanta speak Ahanta. The entertainment committee has been organising events every December for the past few years. Ahantafest is organized every December, and artists are informed to perform. Last year, we had 4 artists at the Ahantafest, and the crowd they pulled was massive. The former MCE, Agyari, built 3 floor stores but could not complete it. Now, the current MP, Mavis Kukua Bissue, is also continuing the deserted market construction the NDC government started in 2014 before they lost to the NPP government
