''Alfred Haase'' is a German Wehrmacht sergeant known for being the father of Anni-Frid Lyngstad, the singer of the iconic pop group ABBA. Born on 29 June 1919 in Gunzenhausen, Germany, Haase served as a sergeant in the German army during World War II and was stationed in Ballangen, Norway, in 1943. There he met 18-year-old Synni Lyngstad, with whom he had a relationship that led to the birth of their daughter Anni-Frid on 15 November 1945, shortly after the war ended. Already married with children in Germany, Haase returned home after the war and did not maintain contact with Synni or their child initially, and Anni-Frid grew up believing her father was dead. In 1977, following research by a journalist and fan efforts, Haase and his daughter reunited in Switzerland, marking an emotional meeting after more than three decades. He later shared his perspective on the encounter in a letter published in a German magazine. Haase lived quietly in Germany until his death on 23 February 2009.
