Anna Kendrick
Anna Cooke Kendrick (born August 9, 1985) is an American actress. Known for playing upbeat and endearing characters in comedies and musicals, her accolades include nominations for an Academy Award, a Primetime Emmy Award and a Tony Award.
Kendrick's first starring role was in the 1998 Broadway musical High Society, for which she earned a nomination for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. Kendrick was born in Portland, Maine, on August 9, 1985, the daughter of accountant Janice (née Cooke) and history teacher William Kendrick. She is of English, Irish, and Scottish descent. She began performing in community theater at the age of six. Her older brother, Michael (b. 1983), is also an actor; he appeared in the drama film Looking for an Echo (2000). She attended Deering High School.
