Aristotle's works and legacy have had a profound impact on Western philosophy and science.
Preservation and Transmission of Aristotle's Works
After 322 BCE
After Aristotle's death, his library of writings went to Theophrastus, and later to Neleus of Scepsis. The library was stored in a cellar for about a century and a half before being recovered and organized by Andronicus of Rhodes.
Return of Aristotle's Works to Athens
100 BCE
The Aristotelian library was purchased by Apellicon and returned to Athens, where it was later seized by Sulla and transferred to Rome.
