Key Information

Professional wrestling career

[edit]

Independent circuit (2003–2007)

[edit]

Delaney first started as a commentator for Rochester, New York, promotion Roc City Wrestling. He soon moved to their competitor, Rochester Pro Wrestling, where he trained as a wrestler by Rik Matrix and ROH's Ring Crew Express. Since then he has worked for NWA Empire, NWA Upstate, Chikara, UWA Hardcore Wrestling in Canada, Squared Circle Wrestling, Buffalo Championship Wrestling, Roc City Wrestling, and CZW promotions under the ring name Colin Olsen as part of the tag team, The Olsen Twins with partner and kayfabe brother Jimmy Olsen.[5] Nicknamed "The Feel-Good Tag Team of the Decade", Colin and Jimmy Olsen were a pair of goofy heels with teenybopper-like interests, such as listening to music artists like Savage Garden and Britney Spears.

Wrestling as Colin Olsen, Delaney has won wrestling championships. For his first championship, he teamed with his kayfabe brother Jimmy to win the NWA Upstate Tag Team Championship on November 13, 2004 by defeating the Ring Crew Express (Kevin Dunn and Mean Marcos).[6][7] They held the belts for over six months before dropping them to The Outcast Killaz on May 14, 2005.[6][8] They also captured the RCW Tag Team Championship on January 20, 2006 defeating the Prophets of Pain (Father Synne and Hard Knox) and held it until June 9, 2006.

On May 19, 2007, Olsen defeated "Mastiff" Will Christianson and Damien Alexander to win NWA Empire's Lord of the Dance Championship, a title which can only be contested in three-way matches.[9][10]

On June 7, 2007 Colin and Jimmy Olsen wrestled for Action Packed Wrestling in Rutland, Vermont, in a 3-Way Scramble Match against Dunn and Marcos and Rhythm and Booze.

Colin's last defense of the NWA Empire's Lord of the Dance Championship was on December 8, 2007 where he wrestled his kayfabe brother Jimmy Olsen and "Mastiff" Will Christianson. At an NWA Empire show on February 9, 2008, Delaney vacated the title due to his ECW brand commitments.[11]

World Wrestling Entertainment (2007–2008)

[edit]

Delaney made his World Wrestling Entertainment debut as a jobber, seen wrestling on the ECW brand. He was first beaten by Shelton Benjamin on the December 18, 2007 episode of ECW, before getting squashed by Big Daddy V two weeks later.[12][13][14] On the January 8, 2008 episode of ECW, Delaney was beaten again, this time by Mark Henry from the SmackDown! brand. Delaney would also be squashed by Kane and The Great Khali.[15] On the January 29, 2008 episode of ECW, WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison and the Miz defeated Delaney in a Handicap match. After the match, The Miz and Morrison continued to attack Delaney, but he was saved after Tommy Dreamer came to the ring.[16]

Delaney picked up his first win in WWE on the February 26, 2008 episode of ECW, defeating The Miz and John Morrison in a tag team match with Tommy Dreamer.[17] On March 11, he and Dreamer challenged The Miz and Morrison for the WWE Tag Team Championships in an Extreme Rules match, but came up short after having lost a subsequent title match the week before.[18] In the following weeks, ECW General Manager Armando Estrada informed Colin that he would have to acquire his first singles victory to win an "official" ECW contract. Delaney unsuccessfully faced a number of superstars, including his own mentor Dreamer, whom Estrada threatened to fire if he lost the match. Finally, on the May 6, 2008 episode of ECW, Delaney defeated Estrada himself via a sunset flip to win his contract,[19] which he had legitimately signed in February.[20] He lost his "first match as an ECW superstar" against Mike Knox and then was beaten by Estrada when he signed himself to the ECW roster.[21] Estrada was defeated by Delaney after already being defeated by Matt Hardy moments earlier, thus removing Estrada from the roster, per the orders of new ECW General Manager Theodore Long.[22] On July 20, 2008, at The Great American Bash, Delaney turned heel by costing Tommy Dreamer his ECW Championship match against Mark Henry.[23] On July 29, however, on ECW, he lost to Matt Hardy, which caused Henry to turn on him. The next week on ECW, Delaney remained a heel and helped Estrada beat Dreamer to earn his ECW contract. This led to an Extreme Rules match against Dreamer, where he was easily defeated.[24] On August 15, 2008, Delaney was released from his WWE contract due to budget cuts.[25][26]

Return to independent circuit (2008–present)

Delaney (right) and STIGMA, two members of The UnStable

On that same day, Delaney worked his first match back on the independent. Working for UWA Hardcore Wrestling, Delaney joined former partner Jimmy Olsen in a winning effort by defeating Up In Smoke.[27] On September 6, Delaney returned to Chikara, where he received a thunderous ovation. However, the next night he turned heel, attacking Jimmy Olsen and then joining with Vin Gerard and STIGMA to form The UnStable.[28] He also cast aside his Olsen surname and began using his Delaney surname.[28] In the company he was trained by, NWA Upstate, He came back as a face for a few shows until he turned heel by helping heel champion Danny Doring retain his NWA Upstate title. He finally cost Danny Doring his title on September 5 to Pepper Parks and the two are now feuding. Currently he is mentoring a stable known as The Young & The Wrestlers which is made up of newer heel wrestlers. On December 5, Colin managed The Young & The Wrestlers in a 3 on 1 match against Danny Doring in Rochester NY.

Delaney won the NWA Empire Heavyweight Championship from Jonny Puma on December 6, 2008, in North Tonawanda, New York.[1] In April Jimmy Olsen made a surprise return to NWA Empire and re-formed his tag team with Delaney by helping him defend his title against Pepper Parks.[1] In early 2009 Delaney began feuding with D'Lo Brown in Chikara, pinning him cleanly in the first round match at the 2009 King of Trios, where The UnStable faced Brown, Al Snow and Glacier.[1] The UnStable defeated Da Soul Touchaz to advance to the semifinals of the tournament, where they were defeated by Team Uppercut (Claudio Castagnoli, Bryan Danielson and Dave Taylor).[1] D'Lo Brown and Glacier returned to Chikara on May 24 and avenged their trios loss by defeating Delaney and Gerard in a tag team match.[1] In August 2009 Delaney advanced to the finals of Chikara's Young Lions Cup VII tournament, but was in the end defeated by Player Dos.[1] On September 19, 2010, at Chikara's Through Savage Progress Cuts the Jungle Line Delaney turned on Gerard and STIGMA to re–form his tag team with Jimmy Olsen, adopting the ring name Colin Delaney Olsen in the process.[29] On October 24, in the first match between the Olsen Twins and the UnStable, Vin Gerard picked up the victory for his team by forcing Delaney Olsen to submit.[30] The two teams had a rematch on November 21, this time with the Olsen Twins coming out victorious.[31] At the season nine finale on December 12, Delaney Olsen defeated Gerard in a singles match.[32]

World Wrestling Entertainment (2007–2008)

In late 2007, Colin Delaney signed a developmental contract with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and was assigned to its ECW brand, where he debuted as an enhancement talent on the December 18 episode of ECW on Sci-Fi, losing to Shelton Benjamin in a squash match designed to highlight established competitors. This appearance marked the beginning of a deliberate losing streak intended to portray Delaney as a sympathetic underdog, with subsequent defeats to prominent wrestlers such as Big Daddy V on the January 1, 2008 episode and Kane on January 15, which emphasized his resilience despite overwhelming odds. His prior experience on the independent circuit provided a foundational underdog persona that WWE amplified for national television exposure. On February 24, 2008, Delaney formalized his commitment by signing a three-year contract with , transitioning from tryout status to a roster member while continuing his role on ECW. Shortly thereafter, a key storyline developed pairing him with veteran , who mentored the inexperienced Delaney, teaching him the ropes of and forming an unlikely alliance that added depth to ECW's narrative landscape. This mentorship culminated in the duo challenging and John Morrison for the at WrestleMania 24 on March 30, 2008, in an Extreme Rules match; although they lost, the opportunity elevated Delaney's profile and showcased his growing integration into major events. Delaney's jobber character persisted through mid-2008, including a storyline arc where he vied for an official ECW contract, culminating in a victory over via sunset flip on the May 6 episode of ECW on Sci-Fi, solidifying his status as a full-fledged competitor. However, tensions arose later in the year, leading to a heel turn on July 20 at , where he interfered to cost Dreamer an ECW Championship opportunity against , straining their partnership. On August 15, 2008, released Delaney as part of widespread roster cuts amid budget constraints, ending his brief tenure after approximately eight months on television.

Following his release from World Wrestling Entertainment in late 2008, Delaney quickly returned to the independent scene, competing in his first post-WWE match on September 6 for CHIKARA Pro Wrestling, where he teamed with Vin Gerard to defeat Halcon Guerrero and Mitch Ryder in a first-round tag team match at the Tag World Grand Prix. He resumed appearances in promotions like Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) and International Wrestling Cartel (IWC). WWE appearances (2017–2018)

In late 2017, Delaney made a surprise return to WWE television during the SmackDown Live fallout segment on December 12, where he teamed with Joe Monroe in a losing effort against The Bludgeon Brothers in a squash match. The following week, on the December 19 episode of 205 Live, Delaney competed in a singles match against Hideo Itami, losing via pinfall after a knee strike. These appearances served as enhancement bouts, showcasing Delaney's underdog persona from his original ECW run without securing a full-time contract. He also participated in brief dark matches and house show spots during this period, maintaining his role as local enhancement talent amid his ongoing independent schedule. These one-off opportunities allowed flexibility for his indie commitments while evoking nostalgia for fans familiar with his 2007–2008 tenure. The returns garnered positive media coverage and fan reception for their nostalgic value, with commentators noting Delaney's enduring appeal as the "extremely cute" jobber who persevered through defeats. Online discussions praised the cameos for briefly reviving ECW-era storylines, though they remained limited to spotlighting established stars.

He made his promotional debut on the January 29, 2020, taping of AEW Dark (aired February 4), partnering with Shawn Spears in a tag team match against Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent), which they lost via pinfall after 15 minutes. This appearance leveraged Delaney's extensive independent circuit background, positioning him as a familiar face for nostalgic bookings in the promotion. Delaney's activity with AEW remained sporadic following his debut, aligning with his role as a reliable jobber to elevate midcard and upper-card competitors. In 2021, he returned for a tag team experiment on the September 29 taping of AEW Dark: Elevation (aired October 6), teaming with Cheech—reviving their indie duo To Infinity & Beyond—in a loss to The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens and Max Caster) by pinfall. Later that year, on the December 3 taping of AEW Dark (aired December 21), Delaney faced Eddie Kingston in a singles match and was defeated via submission after approximately five minutes, showcasing Kingston's striking offense. His final appearance of 2021 came on the December 29 episode of AEW Dynamite: New Year's Smash, where he lost to Wardlow in a quick 1:24 squash via the Powerbomb Symphony. Throughout his tenure, Delaney's matches emphasized his persona, consistent with his jobber function to build opponents' momentum without advancing his own storylines. In a January 2022 interview, Delaney reflected on AEW's environment as a refreshing alternative to , praising owner Tony Khan's approachability and enthusiasm for ECW-era talent like himself, noting Khan's direct knowledge of his past work upon their first meeting. He also highlighted the presence of fellow alumni such as , , and in AEW, contrasting it with WWE's more rigid structure by describing AEW as a promotion that fostered a familial, fan-driven atmosphere for veterans. Delaney's AEW run concluded in late 2021 amid ongoing roster expansions, after which he shifted focus back to independent promotions.

Game Changer Wrestling and later career (2021–present)

Following his brief stint in All Elite Wrestling, which provided renewed momentum on the independent scene, Colin Delaney joined Game Changer Wrestling (GCW) in 2021 and quickly established himself as a regular performer, specializing in hardcore-style matches and tag team competition alongside longtime partner Cheech as To Infinity and Beyond. In GCW's high-impact environment, Delaney adapted to the promotion's emphasis on intense, often brutal bouts, including multi-man battle royals and stipulation encounters that incorporated elements of deathmatch wrestling, such as the Clusterfuck Battle Royal at GCW Joey Janela's Spring Break on April 6, 2024, where he competed against a field of over 20 wrestlers before being eliminated. His tag team work highlighted resilience and chemistry, with notable victories like defeating Bang and Matthews (Davey Bang and August Matthews) at GCW Run For It on May 18, 2025. Throughout 2022–2025, he pursued titles across promotions, including unsuccessful challenges for the , such as the four-way loss to champions YDNP (Alec Price and Jordan Oliver) at GCW Bash At The Ballpark on July 19, 2025, alongside teams High Seas and Da Prospectz. In Absolute Intense Wrestling (AIW), Delaney and Cheech mounted multiple title pursuits for the AIW Tag Team , highlighted by a defeat to champions Marino Tenaglia and Philly Collins at AIW 20th on , 2025, after earlier wins in multi-team qualifiers like the four-way victory at AIW Against The World 2024 on August 1, 2024. Similar efforts in Wrestling (ESW) saw To Infinity and Beyond defend and challenge for the ESW Tag Team , solidifying Delaney's presence in regional hardcore circuits. As of November 2025, Delaney remains an active member of the GCW roster, embodying veteran status with over two decades in the industry and taking on mentoring roles for emerging talent through coaching at Ground Zero Wrestling School in . His evolution from underdog to seasoned performer has emphasized guiding younger wrestlers in high-stakes environments, contributing to GCW's tag division while competing in events like GCW on January 11, 2025, where he and Cheech fell to Garbage Daddies (Alec Price and Cole Radrick). This phase underscores Delaney's adaptability to the indie landscape's demands, blending technical prowess with the grit required for GCW's signature chaos.
