Genie Chuo (Chinese: 卓文萱; pinyin: Zhuó Wénxuān; born 20 January 1986) is a Taiwanese singer, actress and television host.[1]

Life and career
[edit]Chuo won several karaoke competitions when she was a first year in the Taipei County Fuho Junior High School.[2] After a number of lessons and training for singing, she debuted as a singer.
She attended Hua Kang Art School where she briefly dated Alien Huang during her first year. After graduating from high school, she continued recording, and has been active in television series in Taiwan including the 2007 drama, Romantic Princess and 2006 Taiwanese movie, Do Over (一年之初).
In 2010, Chuo sang the theme song for the theatrical drama Summer Snow directed by Golden Horse Awards winner Lee Hsing (李行). The EP was released on 30 July 2010 with proceeds going to the Red Cross.[3]

Genie Chuo was born on January 20, 1986, in Taipei, Taiwan. [2] She developed an interest in singing early on and began participating in singing competitions at the age of 8. Genie Chuo began her music career by signing with Rock Records at the age of 13, releasing her debut studio album 1986 on July 27, 2001. She followed this with several studio albums over the next decade, including Be Used To / 習慣 on October 27, 2006, Oxygenie of Happiness / 幸福氧氣 on October 26, 2007, My Favorite Kind of Geniie / 超級喜歡 on November 7, 2008, Just The Way I Am / 反正 卓文萱 on November 4, 2011, and Burning Sense of Music / 灼樂感 on October 16, 2014. Her only compilation release during this period was 1 + 1 Play n Fun 珍選集 on November 6, 2009. Chuo has made notable contributions to drama soundtracks and collaborations, including "香草戀人" and "有星星的夜" for the Lover of Herb OST in 2004, "梁山伯與茱麗葉" with Gary Cao for the Love Queen OST in 2006, "永不消失的彩虹" for the Rolling Love OST in 2008, "愛的主旋律" with Alien Huang in 2007, "心愛的" with Alien Huang in 2013/2014, and the charity EP "夏雪" for the Summer Snow theatrical drama in 2010. These OST works represent a significant portion of her musical output, particularly as no new studio albums have been released since 2014. Genie Chuo made her acting debut in 2002 with a role as Xuan Xuan in the film Forever of Forever (永遠永遠永遠的永夜). [6] In 2006, she appeared in the film Do Over as the Toll Station Girl. [7] Her television career began in 2006 with supporting roles in the drama Love Queen (戀愛女王) as Yu Qiaole and Engagement for Love (愛情經紀約) as Zhu Kexin.
