Gert Andersen is a Danish former handball player known for his aggressive defensive style that earned him the nickname "håndboldens hårde hund" and established him as one of the most prominent figures in Danish handball history. Compensating for his relatively modest build with speed and physical toughness, he was renowned for a demanding and confrontational approach on the court, both giving and receiving hard contact in defense. He represented Denmark at the World Men's Handball Championships in 1964 and 1970 while playing for HG København in 1964. Born in 1939, Andersen enjoyed a lengthy career in Danish club handball before retiring from active play. In later years, he has declined to participate in old boys or veterans' teams, citing the insufficient competitive level, and has instead turned to golf and cycling. He is the father of Camilla Andersen, a former Danish national team handball player and two-time Olympic gold medalist. His wife, Toni Røseler Andersen, was also a former Danish national team handball player.
