Hampton is a city in and the county seat of Franklin County, Iowa, United States. The population was 4,337 at the 2020 census, and was estimated at 4,340 in 2024. The city is located two miles southeast of Beeds Lake State Park.

Hampton was established in 1856 and named after Hampton, New Hampshire. The town's early growth was tied to its location along key transportation routes in northern Iowa and its designation as the county seat of Franklin County.

The arrival of the railroad in the late 19th century spurred economic development, bringing commerce, industry, and increased settlement.
