What happened with Igor Sikorsky on 24 May, 1940

The Vought-Sikorsky VS-300 had its first free flight after the tethered flight on September 14, 1939. This demonstrated the viability of Sikorsky's helicopter design and paved the way for the mass production of helicopters.
