Istrinsky District (Russian: И́стринский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[2] district (raion), one of the thirty-six in Moscow Oblast, Russia. It is located in the western central part of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,268.97 square kilometers (489.95 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the town of Istra.[1] Population: 119,641 (2010 census);[3] 115,753 (2002 Census);[6] 90,572 (1989 Soviet census).[7] The population of Istra accounts for 29.3% of the district's total population.[3]
