Jack LaLanne died at the age of 96 in Morro Bay, California, due to respiratory
failure caused by pneumonia. His death marked the end of an era in fitness and
nutrition, leaving behind a legacy of promoting healthy living through exercise
and diet.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, then governor of California, launched the California
Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sport. During his address,
Schwarzenegger paid special tribute to Jack LaLanne and credited him with
demonstrating the benefits of fitness and a healthy lifestyle for 75 years.
