Jack Robbins is an American director, writer, and comedian known for satirizing "nepo baby" culture through viral social media content while building a career in film and television. The son of actors Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins, he has embraced his family background in humorous, self-aware videos that lampoon privilege in Hollywood, often under the persona "Jack Susan Sarandon Robbins." His work extends to directing segments on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and developing independent projects, including short films such as Hot Winter: A Film by Dick Pierre and Painting with Joan. Robbins gained widespread attention in 2023 with his satirical TikTok and Instagram videos, which playfully exaggerate nepo baby stereotypes while collaborating with his parents and other celebrities. This persona has evolved into broader creative endeavors, including a Hulu comedy series titled Nepo Baby currently in development. He has also leveraged his platform for philanthropy, launching campaigns like "Nepo Babies for Babies" to address the national diaper crisis. Born on May 15, 1989, Robbins has established himself as a multihyphenate entertainer whose blend of humor, commentary, and industry experience has made him a distinctive voice in contemporary entertainment.

Early life

Jack Henry Robbins was born on May 15, 1989, in New York City, to actress Susan Sarandon and actor Tim Robbins. He is the older brother of Miles Robbins (born 1992) and the younger half-brother of Eva Amurri (born 1985).

Marriage to Carole Landis

Meeting, marriages, and separation

Jack Robbins, then known as Irving Wheeler, met Frances Ridste—later famous as actress Carole Landis—in the fall of 1933 while he was working as a Civilian Conservation Corps laborer in Banning, California. Ridste, aged 15, was attending San Bernardino High School and holding a part-time job at a hot dog stand at the time. The couple eloped and married on January 14, 1934, in Yuma, Arizona, where Ridste lied about her age on the marriage license to circumvent age restrictions. Her mother soon discovered the marriage and had it annulled. Wheeler faced a brief arrest on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, though the charges were dropped after he proved the marriage had been legal. On August 25, 1934, with the consent of Ridste's father Alfred Ridste, the couple married again. They set up home in a one-room apartment without a refrigerator. Three weeks later, Ridste walked out on Wheeler, ending the marriage.

Divorce, lawsuit against Busby Berkeley, and aftermath

The marriage between Irving Wheeler and Carole Landis was formally dissolved by divorce on May 10, 1939. In 1938, Wheeler filed a $250,000 alienation of affection lawsuit against film director Busby Berkeley, who was engaged to Landis at the time, alleging that Berkeley had wrongfully interfered in their marriage. The suit was dismissed following trial or settlement, resulting in no recovery for Wheeler. Despite the acrimonious legal proceedings, Landis later facilitated Wheeler's entry into Hollywood film work by arranging for him to serve as a stand-in on her 1942 picture A Gentleman at Heart. This assistance occurred after Wheeler had relocated to Hollywood and begun using the professional name Jack Robbins.

Film career

Jack Henry Robbins has primarily worked as a director and writer in film and television. He has directed segments for the late-night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live! since at least the 2010s. His independent film work includes directing and writing short films such as Hot Winter: A Film by Dick Pierre (2017) and Painting with Joan. Robbins directed the feature comedy VHYes (2019), presented as found footage of a child's 1980s camcorder recordings. He also directed and co-wrote Opening Night (2016), a comedy film. Robbins has occasionally appeared as an actor in supporting roles, such as in Frances Ferguson (2019) and other projects. His work often incorporates humorous and self-referential elements, aligning with his later social media satire. He continues to develop projects, including a Hulu comedy series in development as of 2025.
