Jason Statham was born in Shirebrook, Derbyshire, England, to dancer Eileen (née Yates) Statham and Barry Statham, a street vendor.

Statham began attending the British National Diving School and competed in the Olympic trials for the 1988 Games in Seoul.

Statham participated in the 1990 Commonwealth Games, representing England.

Statham was recruited to model for several apparel brands, including Tommy Hilfiger and Levi’s.
