Johannes Fust sued Gutenberg for the repayment of the loans, including accrued interest. Fust argued that Gutenberg had not used the loan effectively and demanded the return of his investment.
Gutenberg Loses the Lawsuit

The court ruled in favor of Johannes Fust, ordering Gutenberg to repay the loans. As Gutenberg was unable to do so, Fust seized the printing press and all associated equipment, effectively taking control of the printing workshop.
Fust and Schöffer Continue Printing
After 1455
Johannes Fust, in partnership with Peter Schöffer (Gutenberg's former assistant), continued to operate the printing press, producing further editions of the Bible and other books. This marked the beginning of a successful printing business under Fust and Schöffer.
