Kate Hore is an Australian rules footballer known for her midfield dominance, leadership as captain of the Melbourne Football Club in the AFL Women's competition, and a decorated career that includes a premiership, multiple All-Australian honours, and several club best-and-fairest awards. [1] [2] Born on 25 March 1995, she stands 170 cm tall and has played exclusively for Melbourne since her debut in 2018, accumulating 93 games and 105 goals while establishing herself as one of the league's most consistent and versatile performers. Recruited from Beaumaris and the St Kilda Sharks in the VFLW, Hore quickly rose to prominence with standout traits in goal-kicking from midfield-forward roles, high disposal counts, and tackling pressure. [1] She led Melbourne to the 2022 (S7) AFLW premiership, earned All-Australian selection in 2020, 2022, and 2023 (captaining the 2023 team), and claimed the AFLPA Captain of the Year award. [2] At club level, she has won the Daisy Pearce Trophy (Melbourne's best-and-fairest) three consecutive times from 2022 to 2024, been the team's leading goalkicker four times (2020–2023), and demonstrated career-best form with strong averages in disposals and tackles. Hore has also been recognised for individual brilliance, including the 2020 AFLW Goal of the Year, and has served as Melbourne's captain since 2023, guiding the team through multiple seasons while maintaining elite performance levels.
