Keyaron James Fox /kiˈærən/, born January 24, 1982) is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). He was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the third round of the 2004 NFL draft. He played college football for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

He played in 45 games (35 starts) during his tenure at Georgia Tech and finished his career with 376 tackles, 9 sacks, 40 tackles for loss, one INT, two fumble recoveries, six forced fumbles, 14 passes defensed, and seven QB pressures. He majored in management.

Kansas City Chiefs

Fox was originally selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the third round (93rd overall) of the 2004 NFL Draft.[3] In his rookie season he played 12 games and finished the campaign with 7 tackles. His second season with the Chiefs was low key as he only recorded three tackles. In 2006, Fox had a career-high season with 52 tackles and one sack. In his final year with the Chiefs, he played in ten games, recording 21 tackles.[4]

Pittsburgh Steelers

On March 12, 2008, Fox signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as a free agent.[5] He recorded 17 tackles in 13 games in 2008 as the Steelers beat the Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII.

An unrestricted free agent in the 2009 offseason, Fox was re-signed to a two-year, $1.8 million contract on April 6.[6]

In week 6 of the 2009 season, Fox filled in for an injured Lawrence Timmons, where he intercepted a Brett Favre pass running it back for an 82-yard touchdown to help the Steelers secure a 27–17 victory over the undefeated Minnesota Vikings.

Fox was named the Steelers' special teams captain in 2009 and 2010.[7]

Washington Redskins

On August 6, 2011, Fox signed with the Washington Redskins.

Houston Texans

On July 26, 2012, Fox signed with the Houston Texans. During training camp, he suffered a knee injury and was placed on the injured reserve list on August 9.[8]

College career

Keyaron Fox played college football for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets as a linebacker. In 2003, his senior season, Fox led the ACC in tackles with 150 (12.5 per game) and was the runner-up for ACC Defensive Player of the Year. He earned second-team All-America honors from SI.com and first-team All-ACC honors. Keyaron Fox was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the third round (93rd overall) of the 2004 NFL Draft. Following his college career at Georgia Tech, he joined the team as a reserve linebacker and special teams contributor. Over his four seasons with the Chiefs from 2004 to 2007, Fox appeared in 40 games with four starts, recording 83 combined tackles (72 solo and 11 assisted), 1.0 sack, seven tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one pass defensed, and two quarterback hits. He primarily served in a backup role with limited defensive snaps during this period. In 2004, his rookie season, Fox played in 12 games without a start and tallied seven tackles (six solo). His playing time decreased in 2005 due to injury; he appeared in only two games, recording three solo tackles, before being placed on injured reserve on October 10. In 2008, Fox played in 13 regular-season games without a start, recording 17 tackles (11 solo) and recovering 2 fumbles. He was a member of the Steelers' roster that won Super Bowl XLIII following the 2008 season, defeating the Arizona Cardinals to claim the championship. Fox's most notable defensive contribution came in 2009, when he appeared in all 16 games with 3 starts and totaled 44 tackles (31 solo). On July 26, 2012, Keyaron Fox signed with the Houston Texans as a veteran inside linebacker following his time with the Washington Redskins. During training camp, he suffered a knee injury that required surgery. The Texans placed Fox on injured reserve on August 9, 2012, due to the injury. He did not appear in any regular-season or playoff games for the team. This brief, injury-shortened stint concluded his NFL playing career.
