This portrayal in the massively popular musical franchise, which emphasized themes of ambition and family, became her most iconic contribution to family entertainment, appealing to a global youth audience.

Later career and business

Transition from acting

Following the completion of her role as Lucille Bolton in High School Musical 3: Senior Year (2008), Leslie Wing retired from acting, concluding a 25-year career that began in 1983. This film marked the final installment of the High School Musical trilogy, serving as a professional culmination for Wing after her earlier appearances in the series. Her decision to step away was influenced by a desire for a more stable lifestyle and a focus on family priorities, including raising her two daughters alongside her husband, Bill Pomeroy. Wing had already begun shifting her emphasis toward family in the mid-1990s, relocating from Hollywood to Colorado in 1996 to create a more grounded environment away from the demands of the entertainment industry. After stepping away from acting, Wing worked at Starbucks for nine years starting in 2005, including five years as a manager. Prior to her full retirement, she took on select projects, such as the role of Dr. Lwaxana Goodwyn in Return to Halloweentown (2006), which bridged her ongoing but diminishing involvement in acting. These later roles reflected a selective approach, allowing her to balance sporadic work with personal commitments.

Coffee shop ownership

Following her retirement from acting, Leslie Wing-Pomeroy launched East Simpson Coffee Company as her primary entrepreneurial endeavor. The coffee shop opened on December 8, 2014, at 414 East Simpson Street in , marking the beginning of her transition into small business ownership. Wing-Pomeroy co-owns and operates the business alongside her husband, Bill Pomeroy, who contributed significantly to the initial renovation of the 1,650-square-foot space over five weeks with the help of friends. The couple relocated to East Simpson Street in 2013 with the explicit goal of revitalizing the historic area, which had been dormant after the shift of Lafayette's downtown commercial activity. In 2021, the shop relocated to a new location at 201 East Simpson Street, the site of Lafayette's former historic City Hall, continuing its operations as a community-focused establishment serving locally roasted , drinks, fresh pastries, homemade soups, and local beverages like , ciders, and wine. As of 2025, the shop remains operational as a neighborhood gathering spot. The coffee shop emphasizes community engagement, functioning as a welcoming hub for locals to gather and fostering a sense of neighborhood vitality. Wing-Pomeroy has highlighted her vision for the venture, stating, “I was literally salivating over this idea of turning the street back into the vibrant main street that it used to be.” Features such as a dedicated community room, patio, and the use of local products—including coffee from Boulder's OZO roaster and honey from the couple's backyard bees—underscore its role in supporting and energizing the East Simpson Street area. Bill Pomeroy also played a key role in local advocacy, helping to pass a beekeeping ordinance in Lafayette in January 2015 to enable such community-oriented initiatives.

Personal life

Marriage and family

Leslie Wing married William Lee Pomeroy, a set designer and builder, in 1985 after meeting him while working on the traveling production of the musical Barnum. The couple has two daughters, Emma Pomeroy and Mattie Pomeroy, born in the early 1990s and late 1990s, respectively. Following the birth of their first daughter, Emma, Wing significantly reduced her acting commitments to prioritize motherhood and family stability, a decision that influenced her transition away from full-time Hollywood work in the early 1990s. This shift allowed her to balance occasional roles, such as in High School Musical 3: Senior Year (), with family responsibilities, including volunteering at her daughters' school and involving them in community theater activities. Wing has described her family as a central support , with Pomeroy collaborating closely on her post-acting endeavors, fostering a dynamic centered on mutual involvement in creative and domestic life. The family's close-knit structure persisted into adulthood for the daughters, who have been referenced in family obituaries as key members of the extended Wing-Pomeroy , reflecting Wing's emphasis on nurturing relationships amid career changes. This focus on family also extended to brief nods to her own upbringing in a creative , where her , Stafford Lee Wing, encouraged artistic pursuits that later shaped her personal priorities.

Residence and community involvement

Leslie Wing has maintained a long-term residence in , since at least 2015, where she lives with her husband, Bill Pomeroy. The couple relocated to the area from nearby around 2013, drawn to the community's charm and historic downtown. This move marked a significant shift for Wing, transitioning from her acting career to a more settled, family-oriented lifestyle in the suburbs of Boulder County. In Lafayette, Wing has engaged in low-profile community activities that reflect her integration into local life. The Pomeroy family is regarded as a pillar of the neighborhood, supporting communal efforts and fostering connections among residents. Her contributions extend to facilitating neighborhood events and gatherings, enhancing the social fabric of the area without seeking public attention. Wing's involvement also includes advocacy on local issues affecting the community. In September 2024, she submitted a letter to the Lafayette City Council, voiced through a fellow business owner, highlighting concerns about increases and their effects on small enterprises, underscoring her commitment to economic vitality in Lafayette. These engagements illustrate her post-acting focus on quieter, impactful roles within her adopted hometown.
