Lewis Marc Capaldi was born in Glasgow, Scotland, to a family of Scottish, Irish, and Italian ancestry. He is the youngest of four children.

Capaldi's passion for performing started after he sang on stage during a family trip to France. This early experience sparked his interest in music.

Capaldi learned to play the guitar and began writing songs, often sneaking into pubs with the help of his eldest brother to perform.

Capaldi participated in the 'Hit the Road' project run by The Scottish Music Centre, playing in Dumfries, Edinburgh, and Fort William alongside other emerging artists.

Capaldi released his debut single 'Bruises' independently, which quickly amassed nearly 28 million plays on Spotify, making him the fastest unsigned artist to reach 25 million plays on the platform.

Capaldi's second EP 'Breach' was released, featuring the hit single 'Someone You Loved', which charted in 29 countries and became a global hit.

Capaldi released his debut album 'Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent', which remained at the top of the UK Albums Chart for six weeks and became the best-selling album of 2019 and 2020 in the UK.

Capaldi won the 2020 Brit Award for Best New Artist and Song of the Year for 'Someone You Loved'.

Capaldi postponed his upcoming shows to work on his sophomore album, later releasing the lead single 'Forget Me' in September 2022, which debuted at the top of the UK Singles Chart.

Capaldi released his second album 'Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent' in May 2023, which included the number-one singles 'Pointless' and 'Wish You the Best'.

Capaldi announced that he was taking an extended and indefinite break from touring due to mental and physical health concerns, following an episode of his recently diagnosed Tourette's syndrome during his set at the 2023 Glastonbury Festival.
