Lillian Evelyn Gilbreth died of a stroke in Phoenix, Arizona, at the age of 93. Her ashes were scattered at sea.

Frank Bunker Gilbreth, Lillian's husband, died of a heart attack. Lillian never remarried and continued to lead their engineering and management consulting firm.
