Mafell AG is a German manufacturer of high-end professional power tools specializing in woodworking and carpentry equipment, founded in 1899 as Maschinenfabrik Fellbach in Fellbach, Germany.[1] The company relocated to Oberndorf am Neckar in 1933, where it maintains its sole production facility and headquarters, producing approximately 85% of components in-house through processes including injection molding, motor manufacturing, and quality assurance.[2] Renowned for innovation, Mafell invented the world's first portable electric chain mortiser in 1926, revolutionizing on-site carpentry work.[1]
Over its history, Mafell has focused on developing durable, precision tools for professional trades, earning awards such as the Rudolf-Eberle Award and the iF Product Design Award for its ergonomic and efficient designs.[3] Key product lines include circular saws like the MT55cc plunge-cut model, routers, planers, sanders, and specialized machines such as the ERIKA pull-push saw and the PSS 3000 portable panel saw system.[3] In recent years, the company has expanded into cordless technology as a partner in the Cordless Alliance System (CAS), ensuring compatibility across battery-powered tools from multiple brands for enhanced flexibility and performance.[4] With a workforce of over 250 employees and a commitment to German engineering standards, Mafell serves global markets, particularly in Europe, emphasizing tools that combine lightweight construction with heavy-duty capabilities for timber framing, fine woodworking, and joinery.[1]
