List of songs recorded by Phish
View on Wikipedia
This is an incomplete list of original songs composed by the rock band Phish. Certain "sections" of songs have been played separately from time to time, but are not listed below. For instance, the middle section of "Guelah Papyrus" was sometimes played by itself under the name "The Asse Festival.” Before "The Moma Dance" had lyrics, it was called "Black-Eyed Katy.” “Shafty" was once called "Olivia's Pool,” and featured a different arrangement. "Taste" was once known as "The Fog That Surrounds" and contained a slightly different arrangement. And many sections of the multi-part epic "Fluffhead" have been played outside of the song. Some of these sections include "Clod", "The Chase", "Who Do? We Do!!" and "Bundle of Joy.” Phish also performed several songs by The Dude of Life, a friend and collaborator of the band, but those are not listed here, with the exception of songs that The Dude of Life purposely gave to Phish for use in their catalog. Also, songs from the band's solo careers that were also performed by Phish are listed here.

Songs beginning with N–R
Phish has incorporated several cover songs beginning with the letters N through R into their live performances, drawing heavily from 1960s and 1970s rock influences such as Led Zeppelin and the Velvet Underground. These selections often feature extended improvisations that align with Phish's jam-oriented style, transforming the originals into vehicles for atmospheric exploration or high-energy grooves. Notably, there are no verified cover songs starting with Q in Phish's repertoire.[4] The band's covers in this range highlight a cluster of Led Zeppelin material, reflecting their affinity for the group's mystical and riff-driven sound, alongside homages to Frank Zappa's intricate compositions. These songs have appeared sporadically but memorably in setlists, sometimes as encores or segues within larger jams, and have been captured on official live releases like Live Phish volumes.[19][20][21]| Song | Original Artist (Year) | Phish Debut | Times Played (as of November 2025) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| No Quarter | Led Zeppelin (1973) | 2011-06-01 | 20 | Originally from Houses of the Holy, this atmospheric track debuted during a "Tweezer" jam and has since been performed over 20 times, often featuring extended keyboard-driven improvisations evoking the original's eerie mood; notable versions include segues from "Down with Disease" and appearances on Live Phish Vol. 13. Last played July 4, 2025. Trey Anastasio has cited its influence on Phish's darker jams.[19][22] |
| Oh! Sweet Nuthin' | The Velvet Underground (1970) | 1998-10-31 | 6 | From Loaded, this debut occurred during Phish's Halloween musical tribute to the Velvet Underground; Page McConnell handled lead vocals in its rare performances, which blend rock energy with subtle jams; last played in 2013 and included on Live Phish Vol. 16. It exemplifies Phish's selective approach to 1970s proto-punk covers.[23][24] |
| Peaches en Regalia | Frank Zappa (1969) | 1986-10-15 | 89 | Featured on Zappa's Hot Rats, this instrumental debuted early in Phish's career and was revived in 1993 as a tribute following Zappa's death; known for its complex fusion of jazz-rock elements, it has been jammed extensively, with highlights like the 1994-05-27 version; represents Phish's ongoing homage to Zappa's compositional style.[20][25] |
| Ramble On | Led Zeppelin (1969) | 1998-08-01 | 3 | From Led Zeppelin II, this track debuted on the "Island Tour" and was played sparingly, including a 2010 "TweeZeppelin" medley at Boardwalk Hall; it captures Zeppelin's folk-rock vibe with Phish's added improvisational flair, underscoring their periodic nods to the band's catalog.[21][26] |
| Rock and Roll | The Velvet Underground (1970) | 1998-10-31 | 92 | Also from Loaded and debuting alongside "Oh! Sweet Nuthin'" in the Halloween set, this high-octane opener has evolved into a jam staple with chaotic, theremin-infused extensions; standout versions include the 30-minute 1999-12-31 rendition and 2011-08-05's dark groove; frequently used to launch sets post-2003.[27][28] |
