Career

Early roles in casting and production management

Noah Harlan began his career in the film and television industry in the late 1990s, starting with entry-level positions in casting and production management. His initial credits included serving as casting associate on the television movie Black Jaq (1998) and on two episodes of the miniseries The Temptations (1998). In 1999, Harlan worked as unit production manager on the feature film The Shade. The following year, he contributed to casting as "Casting: New York" on The Secret (2000) and took on the role of line producer for the short film How People Do (2000). These pre-2002 positions provided foundational experience across casting coordination and on-set production logistics before his shift toward producing roles, beginning with Apartment #5C in 2002.

Independent feature films

Noah Harlan has produced and co-produced several independent feature films, often working on intimate, character-driven projects with international directors. He first served as producer on Apartment #5C (2002), an early entry in his producing career. Harlan developed a sustained collaboration with director Raphaël Nadjari, acting as co-producer on three of the director's features: Avanim (2004), Tehilim (2007), and Ce que mes yeux ont vu (2007). These partnerships focused on narratives exploring identity, family, and cultural tensions, frequently set against Israeli or French-Jewish backdrops. Tehilim (2007) gained notable visibility when it premiered in Competition at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival. Later, Harlan produced Return (2011), directed by Liza Johnson and starring Linda Cardellini, Michael Shannon, and John Slattery; the film premiered in the Directors' Fortnight section at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. Sources vary on the total number of feature films he has produced or co-produced, with some indicating up to seven while credits databases like IMDb list fewer, primarily the titles noted above.
