Nissen in the Nissebanden Christmas calendar programs. He has also featured in feature films, including a role in the Olsen-banden series, and provided Danish voice acting for animated films such as The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mulan, and Toy Story 2. As a director, he helmed the 1993 comedy feature Hjælp – min datter vil giftes along with numerous revues, including multiple seasons of Hjørring-Revyen, where he also served as artistic director. Per Aabye Pallesen was born on 30 April 1942 in Aars, Denmark. He is the son of prokurist Ejner Pallesen, who died in 2002, and nurse Ellen Pallesen (née Aaby), who died in 1979.

Career

Stage debut and theater work

Per Pallesen made his stage debut in 1966 in Copenhagen, marking the beginning of a career heavily focused on live theater performances. He quickly gained recognition for his versatility in musicals and revues, genres that showcased his singing, comedic timing, and stage presence during his early professional years. His pre-television theater work centered on productions in Copenhagen and other Danish venues, including appearances at notable institutions such as Det Kongelige Teater and Aveny Teatret. He performed in several prominent musicals, including Spillemand på en tagryg (the Danish production of Fiddler on the Roof) and Les Misérables, demonstrating his range in large-scale stage productions that combined acting, singing, and dramatic performance. In the adventure series Gøngehøvdingen (1992), he portrayed Ib / Ib Abelsøn in 13 episodes. His other television work includes guest appearances such as a role in Klovn (2018, one episode), Porla in Charlot and Charlotte (1996, one episode), Skorstensfejer in Nissebanden i Grønland (1989, one episode), and additional voices including Tyk svale in The Fairytales (2004, three episodes).

Per Pallesen has held several key leadership positions in Danish theater, transitioning from his background as a performer to administrative and artistic management roles. He served as managing director of Nørrebros Teater in Copenhagen from 2001 to 2007. During this tenure, he oversaw a repertoire featuring operettas, musicals, and meaningful entertainment. He was succeeded in the role in 2007. Earlier in his career, from 1983 to 1986, he acted as director and artistic leader of Lorry in Copenhagen. He also served as director of Hjørring Revyen.

Marriages and children

Per Pallesen was married to actress Kirsten Peüliche from 1966 until their divorce in 1991. The couple had two daughters, both of whom became actresses: Trine Pallesen, born in 1969, and Sofie Pallesen, born in 1971. On 23 April 2011, Per Pallesen married Vivian Dencker in a ceremony at a small village church in Bauduen, Provence, southern France.

Per Pallesen received the Silver Rose award at the Festival Rose d'Or in Montreux, Switzerland, in 1985 for the comedy television program Pallesen Pilmark Show, which he co-created and performed in with Søren Pilmark.
