Spring Lane tram stop

Key Information

Spring Lane is a tram stop on the South Yorkshire Supertram network, opened on 22 August 1994.[1] It is located on Park Grange Road, and was the terminus of the line before it was extended further to Gleadless Townend and Halfway later on.

History

[edit]

This stop was opened along with the section between Fitzalan Square and Spring Lane in August 1994. This stop was the southern terminus of the line. For the next four months, trams terminated and used the future Halfway-bound platform as a turnback platform (as shown in the infobox picture).

The line was extended to Gleadless Townend in December 1994 and further to Halfway in March 1995.[2]

Layout

[edit]

Spring Lane tram stop has two low-level side platforms, situated on either side of the road. The trams share the road with other traffic.[3]

At the centre of each platform, passenger information displays stand and show estimated arrival times for trams.[4] There are also two short ramps at each end of the platforms, providing step-free access for passengers.[5]

Services

[edit]

The Blue route has a peak frequency of 5 trams per hour (every 12 minutes), and the Purple route runs hourly Monday−Saturday and every 30 minutes (peak frequency) on Sundays.[6]
