Music activities

Guitar building and musicianship

Tim Schmidt developed a passion for music at age 17 when he learned basic chords and joined a high school rock & roll band, serving as lead singer and rhythm guitarist. The group performed live several times and composed original songs, an experience he cherished deeply. In college, he briefly played in another band for about a year before prioritizing his engineering degree, which placed his music pursuits on hold for the next 35 years. He resumed performing in December 2021 with a public show in a renovated theater in his hometown, delivering 10 songs including two originals to an audience of over 300 people, describing the event as transformative despite intense nerves. Following this return, Schmidt relocated to Nashville with his wife, began writing and recording new material—including his first five songs—and formed the group Tim Schmidt & the Gunslingers, focusing his music on themes of life, love, pain, and joy to inspire listeners.
